How we match your Renton lemon law case

When you submit a Renton lemon law matter, we route it through a national network of independent partner firms and put it in front of the one that fits best — based on the kind of case it is, what it is likely to involve, where it has to be handled, and who has capacity to take it on now.

  1. Case type

A lemon law matter needs someone who handles lemon law work day to day, not a generalist. Practice area is the first filter.

  2. Size and complexity

Some firms are built for catastrophic injury and multi-party litigation; others resolve straightforward claims quickly. We weigh what your matter is likely to involve against how each firm actually works.

  3. Jurisdiction and licensing

Your matter is decided under Washington law, so it goes to an attorney licensed in Washington who regularly appears where your case would be heard.

  4. Capacity and fit

Availability, conflicts of interest and language all matter. If the best-fit firm cannot take your case, we route it to the next one that can — or tell you plainly when no one in the network is the right answer.

Every partner reviews your case for free. Injury and workers’ compensation matters are handled on contingency — no fee unless you win. Other matters are quoted upfront, before you commit to anything.

DearLegal provides marketing and matching services and is not a law firm. Submitting a case does not create an attorney-client relationship. Matches depend on case type, jurisdiction and firm availability.

More about legal help in Renton

Renton drivers rack up miles on I-405, SR 167, and Rainier Avenue, and the city's dealership row and service shops mean a new vehicle problem quickly becomes a repeat repair problem. When a new car, truck, or motorcycle keeps failing for the same defect or sits out of service for long stretches, Washington's lemon law provides a path to a refund or replacement, and disputes that reach court are filed in King County Superior Court. Careful repair records from each dealer visit are what make or break these claims. DearLegal matches you with a Washington-licensed attorney who handles lemon law cases in Renton, with a free review.

  • Washington's lemon law applies to qualifying new vehicles and generally requires giving the manufacturer a chance to repair the defect.
  • Lemon law lawsuits by Renton owners are filed in King County Superior Court, with south-county cases often heard in Kent.
  • Vehicles bought in Oregon or Idaho and driven in Renton may fall under a different state's lemon law rules.

In Washington lemon law cases the law can shift your attorney’s fees to the other side — you keep your recovery.

Washington’s Motor Vehicle Lemon Law (RCW § 19.118.090), the Washington Consumer Protection Act (RCW § 19.86.090, with treble damages up to $25,000), and the federal Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act (15 U.S.C. § 2310(d)(2)) are all fee-shifting — the manufacturer pays the prevailing consumer’s reasonable attorney fees on top of the recovery. Most Washington lemon law attorneys take cases with no fee deducted from the consumer’s refund or replacement.

Generally the vehicle must be relatively new and have a substantial defect that the manufacturer has not fixed after a reasonable number of repair attempts, or that has kept it out of service for an extended period. The defect has to affect use, value, or safety rather than be a minor annoyance. An attorney can assess whether your repair history qualifies.
Save every repair order, work order, and invoice, including ones where the dealer says no problem was found, plus written communication with the dealer and manufacturer. Note dates the vehicle was unavailable to you. That paper trail is the core evidence in a lemon law claim.
Washington sets eligibility periods and filing deadlines that vary with the vehicle and the claim, and they can be shorter than people expect. Continuing to take the car back for repairs does not pause the clock indefinitely. Have a Washington attorney confirm the deadline that applies to your vehicle.
Under RCW § 19.118.041, a vehicle is presumed a lemon if, within 2 years or 24,000 miles, the manufacturer cannot repair a nonconformity after 4 attempts (2 for serious safety defects), or the vehicle has been out of service for 30 cumulative calendar days.
WA’s Lemon Law applies only to new vehicles. Magnuson-Moss, the WA UCC implied warranty, and the Consumer Protection Act protect used buyers.
